Are You Preparing For Possibility?

What if you knew possibility could not be denied?

Plan ahead and be prepared! Well-meaning people would rather warn us about the eventual disaster that’s heading our way than prepare us for possibilities. What preparing for possibilities could you now choose?

If you’re a success, the worst-case scenario is that your fame and fortune will eventually go away. If you enter into a relationship, eventually it’s going to break up. And, your body is going to get old and sick. It’s just a matter of time.

On the Creative Edge of Consciousness telecall, Gary Douglas compared every eventuality to a 2×4 strip of wood that you carry on your back, so you can build a deck. One day.

“Every point of view is a 2×4 that locks you up and keeps you under it,” Gary pointed out.

“Eventually you’re going to build the deck, but the idea that you can go out and buy new wood never occurs.”

Most people will take a possibility and twist it into an eventuality, as though that’s how to make sure it will occur.

A great example is Gary deciding to breed Costarricenses horses in the United States.

“It was a possibility,” he said. “I turned it into an eventuality and then I turned it into, eventually everyone will love these horses, which was the righteousness of my point of view.”

Therein lies the rub. With eventualities, you only look at the part that you believe is real or desire to look at. You don’t look at everything that’s occurring.

“You’ve got to look for what’s possible,” Gary suggested.

“What’s possible here that I could contribute, change, or alter? Now, I’m looking for what I can alter with regard to the horses to create a different possibility and I’ve given up my fixed point of view.

If you knew possibility could not be denied, what choice could you have that you don’t have now?

There’s that really awful question in Access, what else is possible?

Because you can’t prepare for possibility. You have to live for possibility. But if you have the point of view you have to live for an eventuality, you will make sure that you don’t have possibilities, only have eventualities.
