5 Ways Access Consciousness Does Business Differently

Access Consciousness is a personal development company whose primary target is: Empowering you to know that you know.

When I first became the Worldwide Coordinator of Access Consciousness, the company was operating in 4 countries. Today, 25 years later, the entity of Access Consciousness has expanded into 3 companies in different regions and operates in over 180 countries around the world.

The continuous growth and expansion are not due to lack of trials and tribulations. There have been plenty of storms along the way. The key to success? The willingness to look at business in a different way and choose what is pragmatic even if no one else is creating their business in the same way.

Empowering you to know what you know is not just a statement for our clients. It is how the company was built.

Would you like some front row insight to the different ways in which we do business that has allowed us to exponentially grow year upon year?

Here are 5 of the greatest business done different game changers.

1.   Never look for answers. Always ask questions.

When you think you have the right answer to something, you stop being curious. You stop looking for new ideas, new possibilities because you have decided that you have figured it out. The problem with this is that when you have a conclusion about anything, which is what an answer is, only that which matches your conclusion comes in. It’s how our brains work.

When you ask a question on the other hand, the brain no longer has the job of providing you with the information that will match what you have already decided. The result? Possibilities and creations that you have not considered before become available to you.

Asking questions does not have to be difficult. Simply start with, “What else is possible here that I have never considered?” The one little question can create dynamic change within any business.

2.   Who or what can we add to our business?

It is common for leadership within companies to frequently review expenses from the perspective of, “Who can we get rid of? What can we cut?” The primary mode of operation of Access Consciousness is, “Who or what can we add to the business that will allow growth?” Of course you need to be aware of your financial reality and how much it costs to run your business, but not to make a decision, not to see where you can cut back, rather to make a greater demand.

Ask, “How much money do I need to make a year to create the business that I know I would like to create?” And then look at what you can create and who or what you can add.

3.   Hire people for their awareness

The logical way to go about hiring is to look for the skill set you require and hire based upon who appears to have the most credentials and talent with regards to that skill set. Naturally, this has value. If you require an accountant, hiring someone who has no skills in bookkeeping is not going to work.

At the same time, if you make it only about a skill set, you will miss out on people who would dynamically add to the growth and success of your business. You want to hire people for their awareness. What unique perspective do they have? What do they see and what do know that others do not? What creative capacities do they have?

Ask, “If I hire this person will they expand the business? And, “Are they willing to be aware of the future?”

When you ask questions, you are not looking for an answer. You are looking for your awareness. Acknowledge that you are aware and part of being aware is recognizing that you have a sense of things and that you know what something will or will not create when you ask questions. Trust your awareness. Trust you.

4.   See challenges as possibilities, not problems

When COVID swept across the world, Access Consciousness didn’t miss a beat. We already had everything set up online so we rolled right along. Our classes would have up to 17 languages being translated. Zoom was our platform for delivering our classes and they called us on more than one occasion to ask questions about how we were doing what we were doing because no one else was using their services in the way that we were.

When you see challenges as possibilities rather than problems, no matter what shows up, you ask questions and look for what is possible that no one else has considered.

Ask, “How can we use this to our advantage?” And, “If this was not a problem, what would the possibilities be?”

5.   Greenlight!

Someone who works with me recently came to me and said, “I have been wondering if I need to quit working with you but then I realized I just need to add more things to what I am doing.” She suggested several things that she desired to contribute to and I said, “Go for it!” She became enthused again and her value add went up. She took on many projects and comes up with brilliant ideas.

In business, Access Consciousness gives people the greenlight. Every idea that is presented is considered. We may or may not use it, but it will be listened to, no matter who offers it. We don’t limit people to their job description either. In many ways, they create their own job description because they are empowered to discover what is fun for them and what they are good at and just go.

Amazon had a policy years ago that basically said, “Don’t say no.” If someone had an idea, the answer was yes and if you truly felt the answer needed to be no, then you were required to write a 5 page paper as to why. Similar concept to how we operate.

When people are invited to have ideas and there are not layers upon layers of approvals to get anything in motion, people are inspired, new ideas and inventions are created and the business works for everyone.

The founder of Access Consciousness, Gary Douglas, often says, “Never give up. Never give in. Never quit.”

These words are some of the best business advice ever given. When you commit to always move forward to matter what, when you ask questions, empower your staff, play to people’s strengths and trust your awareness, your business can surpass everything you desire.

Ask, “What choice can I make today to expand my business, my wealth and my life right away?”
