Queen of Wands and Nine of Swords
This week, we are feeling the potent energy of the astrological new year and the start of Aries Season. We are walking into a fiery, motivated time and are ready to take action. Our cards are here to support us and guide our path.
Our first card this week is the Queen of Wands. She represents the fire inside all of us, the energy that makes us loving, loyal friends and worthy adversaries.
The Queen beautifully highlights the passion that ignites within us when we face injustices, celebrating the resiliency in each of us who has triumphed over adversity and grown stronger.
She has remarkable toughness and a strong sense of conviction. Always ready to express her thoughts and stand by her beliefs, she has been shaped by her past into a powerful and opinionated person. However, she lacks diplomatic skills, and her intensity can sometimes be overwhelming, which may turn people away.
This week, we need to be mindful of our communication, as it can be even more challenging. We should apply the lessons of the Queen of Wands to practice compassionate expression.
Some questions we might ask are: How can we be both strong and warm at the same time? How can we share our passion without alienating others? How can we have compassion for those we disagree with while still holding them accountable?
Let the fire push you to create change through understanding and grace. The kindness in your communication and actions will make them so much more impactful.
Our next card urges us to find clarity in our thinking and to be kind to ourselves. It wants us to be aware of any cruel or confusing thoughts we are currently holding on to.
Do you wake up in the morning with a feeling of gratitude? Do you look in the mirror and see your strengths? Do you appreciate your talents and have compassion for your flaws?
Or do you wake up and see what is going wrong? Do you look in the mirror and see what you don’t like about yourself? Do you generally have a negative perspective?
The Nine of Swords wants us to listen to how we talk to ourselves, our harsh criticisms, and our negative loops. We watch them, observe them, and note their tone.
This overly critical thinking is the shadow side or the suit of Swords. Often, out of fear, it comes up to protect us, but ends up hurting us instead. We can speak to this energy and say, ‘I know you are trying to keep me safe, but I no longer need your help.’
The Nine of Swords illuminates the harshness of our words and their impact. Cruel thinking is false thinking; it brings dark clouds where they need not be. This week, we become aware of this energy and make a shift to the light.
Mantra for the week: I tap into my strength and compassion as I find the next steps forward.
